Why can't it connect to the APP / Wi-Fi ?
Broadlink RM4 mini only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for configuration, does not support 5 GHz or mesh router.
Please check whether the frequency in the router setting is 2.4GHz, and make sure the length of Wi-Fi password does not exceed 32 characters.
Broadlink database list doesn't have my AC model, what should I do?
Sorry there is no option available for your appliance.
Please choose “Learn remote" to create a remote, tap the buttons on the original remote to let the RM4 mini learn the commands. Then you will be able to control the appliance after learning.
Is my appliance compatible with the RM4mini?
RM4mini supports IR 38KHz control devices, does not support Bluetooth or RF. Please check the manual of your appliance or consult the manufacturer to confirm.
How to tell if my remote is infrared or Bluetooth
1) Infrared remote has an infrared emitter (crystal head) on the top of itself, you need to point the emitter at the device when use it;
2) Bluetooth remote does not have an infrared emitter, and it usually needs to be matched before first use.
It can't control my IR device stably, what should I do?
The IR signal can't go through the wall, please check and make sure the device is close to your appliance and there is no obstacle in between.

Customers like the remote control capability of the product. They say it works well and can control IR-remote controlled devices like TVs and air conditioners. The device has a remote learn feature, so they just taught it. Automation, particularly for controlling devices like TVs and gas fireplaces, works as a remote on their phone. Adding IR/RF remotes was fine, and selecting the known brands (e.g. TV > Sony) didn't seem. It has a great app that then allows you to control your AC, stereo, etc. from anywhere.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2024Style: RM4 proVerified PurchaseI was a bit skeptical when I ordered it after reading some reviews. I became even more skeptical when I saw its size. But I was completely wrong—this device does exactly what I expected.
I got it for my garage gym to control multiple devices—TVs, fans, garage doors, etc. First of all, I was able to connect and set it up for all these devices within minutes using the native application. There were no issues at all—it connected to Wi-Fi quickly, and it was easy to link devices from the BroadLink database as well as to teach it commands for unknown controllers. No problems with IR or RF functionality.
Then I decided to connect it to Home Assistant and integrate it with HomeKit. Again, I had zero issues. The integration works perfectly (just follow the manual and unlock the device for pairing). Learning how to set up buttons and teach commands through Home Assistant took another 10–20 minutes.
This is a great device and a must-have for anyone looking to organize their devices with an IR & RF controller.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2021Style: RM4 proVerified PurchaseI am going to upgrade this because at least part of the problem was Android and part was due to the product spec. Also, I got it working finally, so that makes me a little happier.
This product did not work with Android Go. Android Go appears to be a problematic release that looks like it is part of the general set of Android versions, but isn't. But according to some, it is a stripped down version.
I bought yet another Android device and that worked fine.
The company is partly to blame in that the versions it supports were not better identified and/or may have been wrong at the older end of the release spectrum. I found an app that tells you exactly what range of versions and app support. According to that, the low end of the product did not reach the older device I had (4.x forgot which just now). This appears to be contrary to the indications given by the supplier. The range of lower to upper versions includes the problematic Go version. As far as I can tell by comments and experience Amazon Go should be avoided no matter what.

OLDER
Setting this thing up was confusing at best. The basic idea is that you send your home Wifi Password to the device so that it can log in to your wifi. OK, but not well explained. Trying to figure out which wifi and which password belongs where is hit and miss. What you are supposed to do at each stage is unclear. My additional issue was that he router's client isolation needed to be turned off to allow the two parts to talk to each other.
Having managed to eventually get through that, it did work. I got some devices under control. So far so good. It could be a useful device. However...
I wanted to get it to run on a tablet rather than the phone. It doesn't seem that any of the variants of the software work properly on tablets. The latest version won't even show up in the play store for recent versions of Android, yet the software claims it works from 4.0 upwards.
The older versions do show up as compatible, but they either crash immediately, or fail to connect. The latter may be due to the different naming of the device between versions. It is not clear. I have tried different versions of the software on both old and brand new tablets without success.
Perhaps the latest version should, in theory, work on more recent versions of Android. The app seems pretty generic with the real work being done by the device. The lack of compatibility with versions of Android seems odd, especially considering their claim to work on anything above 4.0.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2024Style: RM4 proVerified PurchaseI bought this product despite some concerns about stability, quality and some negative feedback.
In my case, I have a parking gate that works with 433MHz controls and I wanted to be able to operate the gate from smart devices like Alexa and Siri...
It worked perfectly, within a few minutes I was able to download the app, configure the device and program it (learn the control frequency).
I only had some issues trying to configure Alexa, but I wrote to Broadlink support and they provided guidance and now it's working...
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2024Style: RM4 miniVerified PurchaseThis item absolutely refused to connect to my WiFi. It is important to note that it only works on 2.4 Ghz. It also demands that your phone be connected on 2.4. Many modern routers are designed to switch between the two seamlessly which is nice but makes it extremely difficult to set this up. I went ahead and split the bands into two, which screwed up all my other devices, and it still fails to connect. The preferred fix seems to be to make a temporary hot spot on your phone to get this to connect. Some people had success with this. I did not. I have a bunch of other devices set up on my network none of which caused me any real difficulty including the ever annoying printer. No excuse in 2024 for these WiFi issues. Don't waste your time or patience on this. Find something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Near-Universal IR Control
Style: RM4 miniVerified PurchaseThis device is great, it's small and the signals reach devices halfway across the room (I'm sure further as well but that's as far as I have tried).
The accompanying app is easy to use and has a nice scene feature for controlling multiple devices with a single button or smart home command.
My only con so far is that I can't get more than rudimentary controls on one of my devices, a Panasonic AV receiver.
It isn't on the long list of known devices in Broadlink's app, it isn't in the many user custom controllers that I tried, and I don't have the receiver's remote to use Broadlink's learn by button press.
Using Broadlink's procedure for adding a device based on trying different IR codes until one does what you want I do have enough control to turn the device on/off and change the volume, but I can't seem to control anything else like input source or the numbers and direction controls I know are on the device's remote.
This isn't Broadlink's fault at all as they've provided plenty of options for setting up a control but I'm mentioning it here anyway because it's frustrating and somewhat related.
Overall though I'm considering buying another one of these for a different room because this thing is so reliable.
