    The only thing this is doing, is converting the hdmi signal to usb, the actual capture is made by your pc. You need a fairly powerful pc or your videos will come out choppy.

    The best thing about this card is the price, but in this case you get what you pay for. The card comes without instructions. It's not complicated to use--experienced video folks will figure it out on their own, and for the rest there are plenty of YouTube and websites that explain how these cards work, and plenty of free software to download for it.

    The quality is fine for recording game play and simple, informal videos, but not for more demanding purposes. I think this is mostly intended as a starter card for kids or the most casual adult users.

    This Wiistar HDMI video capture card works great. Getting the card setup did not take much effort at all, there is an HDMI input where you connect the video source you want to capture. The card comes with a HDMI cord that you can use. There is also an HDMI output port, so you can monitor what you are recording too. There is a USB 3.0 port to connect to your computer. The card also comes with a USB 3.0 cord to connect the device to your computer. Once connected to your computer, the card shows up as another camera that can be selected for recording audio and video. That is all there is to using the card.

    The rest of the work comes from using software to capture the audio and video from the card. The card comes with a small User Manual which lists a bunch of software that can be used. I used VLC and Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) to capture media. I never used OBS before getting this device, so I watched a couple of tutorials that guided me through the setup process, so I could learn how to select the right video quality, aspect ratio, audio quality etc for my purposes. My highest video capture was at 1920x1080 at 60 fps. I had the capture card feeding into the OBS software while I was playing an intense video game ... the card and software captured everything in high resolution, and I did not notice any lag or experience any problems while playing the game.
