    My wife discovered one of our kid's old ASUS Q200e laptop sitting in a drawer. While it had been updated from Windows 8 (the last Vista/Me Microsoft unleashed) to WIN 10 it ran quite slow. Having recently been gathering old boxes around the house and repurposing them for narrow tasks, I thought I'd try an SSD in the ASUS. It had a 500 GB spinner originally and I had no real need for more room so I saved the $30 and got another 500 instead of a 1 TB. It got delivered quickly and is working well; not much else to say. The box will work fine for traveling and watching movies and listening to music. This way I don't have to worry too much about it and my better laptop stays safe at home.

    Originally intended this for use as a cloned replacement drive for a HDD. Upgraded to a 1TB instead. This drive was then put in an external case and used as an external drive. Very fast, very capable, high quality.

    I used this SSD as replacement for a HDD that was in a mid 2012 Macbook Pro unit. Also had to get the items to house the SSD to power it on and make the change, but with that whole process, it was very easy to clone onto and has made the macbook much better for today's needs. Certainly affordable and I've even gotten a 2nd one to make another clone just in case. Great purchase I think here.

    I work in IT, and we purchased a bulk order of these SSDs -- along with several other brands -- to upgrade our agency's machines a few years ago. Of all the SSDs we purchased, the SP drives have been the most reliable. In four years of use, there hasn't been a single failure, which I can't say for the other brands (some of which were better known, "Name" brands).

    The reliability of SP's devices that I saw at work convinced me to purchase them for my personal use, as well. My "gaming rig" PC has two SP SSDs -- a 1TB and this 512GB -- installed. Both have been rock solid over several years, with regular use.

    I can't vouch for the speed as compared to other, higher end SSDs. They are much, much, much faster than spinning HDDs, but most of the machines I've deployed them on have 6, 3, or even 1.5 gigabit SATA busses, which will never reach the kind of speeds that even a slow SSD can provide. Suffice it to say, for general use it is more than acceptably fast, and I haven't noticed any issues whilst gaming.

    Definitely recommended for a good, reliable SSD.

    I had purchased an inexpensive laptop with a Celeron processor. Once I got it I started to do updates from Microsoft and it froze up on the reinstall for several hours. Once I shut it down it would only open to the original starting screen, then freeze up. It had come with just a 125 Gig SSD, so I purchased this one at the surprisingly lower price and had a hard time finding a reasonably priced Windows 10 Pro on a memory stick. For a littly more than $150 dollars I had a better hard drive and an up to date Win 10 operating system. The drive was easy to install into the bottom of the laptop and booted right up to the setup screen. A couple of hours later I had it up and operating with the latest updates. It was a very welcome upgrade to a marginal computer with limit storage space and an OEM Win 10 Pro OS that was questionalbe to say the least. I now have a decent reliable backup laptop. Highly recommended.

    The first CrystalDiskMark (orange backround) was taken on 2020-Aug-14, after I got Windows 10 Pro installed/fully updated. Great reads, great writes.

    The second CrystalDiskMark (black backround) was taken as of writing this review on 2020-Sep-4. Nothing was running but a single Firefox tab where I am currently writing this review.

    Third CrystalDiskMark (white background) was taken before editing this review on 2023-Oct-9

    Rebooting the PC yields a roughly 40 second boot time, from clicking restart to logging into Windows. Your experience may vary.

    Overall, I can highly recommend this drive, or any of Silicon Power's other drives for those who need a cheap yet reliable SSD. I was on a very tight budget when I got this and I am very satisfied with the results.

    Edit 2023-Oct-9: The drive is still going strong as my main drive.
    I accidentally ripped off the plastic L that the SATA data pins are supported by (thank you locking SATA cable connectors, very cool) but I just carefully shoved them back into the cable and secured it with a copious amount of electrical tape, and it's been working fine like that for around 2 years.
    I've uploaded a new CrystalDiskMark screenshot to compare with other results.

    Delivery was a little slow, however the SSD are not slow and they work as seemlessly as the branded disc drives.
    Easy to format - I used an external cable and formatted in the PC to make this an external storage source.
    The PC picked up it's presence right away.
    The size of the SSD is exactly as specified in the selling page.
    The disc runs nice and cool and the data tarnsfer rate was as fast as any other disc I own.
    Very useful for placing in an old slow Laptop or desktop PC to make it operate much faster.
